Geeks at Work / Computer Tamers was contracted by McDonalds in Hickory North Carolina to upgrade their current Wi-Fi configuration and install a wireless drive-thru ordering system.
The current Wi-Fi setup was very limited and did not reach the entire lobby area for customer use and did not reach the back of the restaurant for store employee use; including managers’ office. In addition, the current network would not support the expanded planned usage of the network for the drive-thru ordering system. The equipment being used was also outdated and unsecure with no content filtering.
Geeks at Work / Computer Tamers completed a site survey to determine the exact equipment needs and best location of all needed AP’s, routers and cable runs.
Installation consisted of multiple Cisco AP’s mounted throughout the large building. In addition, multiple external high gain antennas were mounted on the outside to support outdoor use. Configuration was completed and wireless networks were created for both internet office use and guest use. Guest access is through a content filtering system. Geeks at Work / Computer Tamers worked with AT&T to complete the configuration of the new network.
