Most folks have an inkjet printer at home or even in the office. We're here to tell you the difference between these inkjet printers and laser printers. The quick low down is that inkjet printers are cheaper to purchase, however, in the long run, they are more expensive to maintain. That's because the Cost-Per-Page is higher. With inkjet printers it's usually around .01 or .02 cents per page to print, whether it's black or color. Usually you can get anywhere around 400-500 pages per cartridge. And, as we already know, those ink cartridges due dry out. That's why, if you don't print a lot, yet you seem to be always changing ink cartridges, the ink is just drying out.
As for laser printers, they are a little more expensive to purchase, however, the Cost-Per-Page is under a penny. Laser printers use toner cartridges and you can usually get anywhere from 2000-5000 pages per toner cartridge. Toner also doesn't expire or dry out; it has a several year shelf life.
When you purchase an inkjet printer, they come with starter cartridges, that's because while they sit on the display shelf or in the warehouse, that ink is drying up. So, when you purchase an inkjet printer, you will definitely need to purchase ink with it. Laser printers come with nearly a full toner cartridge.
Also, inkjets always have had the ability to print photos at a higher quality than lasers; however, in the past year or so lasers have closed in this and print photos pretty well.
Our recommendation is if you print fairly often and especially if you have a small office, a laser printer is the way to go. Prices for laser printers have come down significantly. In fact, you can get a high quality color laser multi-function printer for around $400.r is the way to go. Prices for laser printers have come down significagantly. In fact, you can get a high quality color laser multi-function printer for around $400.
