For the last few years laptops sales have been outpacing desktops.  And for good reason as well, laptops are more portable (obviously) and they can do pretty much everything that a desktop can do.  The only real limiting factor laptops have are that they can not be upgraded (or modded) as much as a desktop. However, the average owner won't need to upgrade their computer.  Upgrading (or modding) is really for the person who games.  One pro-tip when buying a computer, specifically a laptop, you should buy slightly ahead of the technology curve.  By doing this, your laptop will last you longer.  This will omit most of the cheap laptops you see being advertised as they contain older components.  Of course, the laptop will be a little more expensive, but overall, your dollars will go further.  Most people replace computers, not necessarily because they have failed but because the computer is just too slow for what they need.

 Question of the Week

Judy from Valle Crucis emailed us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. asking wwhether she should get a laptop or desktop.  Our advice is to go laptop because of the mobility.  Even if you don't you'll move the computer around, we're willing to bet later on in life, you'll want to and you'll be glad you got the laptop.
